Sports Nightly...

Baseball This week (week of 3/8)
Don't want to sound like a broken record, but there is a chance of rain in Lincoln for the home opener this Wednesday.  Luckily the forecast has changed a bit...with an 80% chance on Tuesday dropping to only a 30% chance at 9AM Wednesday.

...now, Basketball March Madness (a.k.a. "Can I carry WBB???"...
The seeds for both the Big-12 MBB and WBB tournaments have been locked in for Husker teams (MBB is #12, WBB is #1).  The broadcast times for both are now on our broadcast calendar.  Remember to hover (not click) your mouse over each item on the calendar to see a popup box with more details on each event.  Some affiliates have asked about carrying WBB, and WBB in the NCAA tournament.

Each primary affiliate must carry the event we uplink on our NET-1 satellite channel...so if there are overlapping MBB and WBB games - the MBB game will be on NET-1 and must be carried on your primary Husker Sports Network affiliate.  During these overlapping times, you may carry the WBB game uplinked via our NET-2 on another of your affiliated stations in the same market...but the game we uplink on NET-1 must be on your primary Husker Sports Network affiliated station.  We will broadcast all games in the NCAA WBB tournament, and will pre-empt Sports Nightly and Baseball for WBB and uplink the games on NET-1.  Stations in Nebraska affiliated with the NCAA national basketball network also have the rights to carry that broadcast of games in the NCAA tournament (including our games) - however they must carry the entire package of games and those national NCAA network affiliated stations cannot select to carry only Husker games.

K-State 2010 Football Moved To Thursday Night
Nebraska's football road game against Kansas State has been moved from Saturday October 2nd, to Thursday, October 7th.  Kickoff time TBA pending ESPN setting their TV broadcast time (it will be an evening game).  There will be no football games on Saturday 10/2 and Saturday 10/9.

Volleyball Added Saturday 4/17/2009
The Husker Volleyball team will introduce their 2010 team with a game vs top ten opponent Illinois on April 17, 2010.  We will broadcast that game on our NET-2 satellite channel with a 6:45:00PM pregame (7PM first serve).  John Baylor will be out of town, so Mr. "You Betcha" voice of Husker Women's Basketball Matt Coatney will handle play by play.

Satellite Uplink Moved To Lincoln
Third Satellite Channel Now Available

Sunday 12/13 we moved our satellite uplink from our old Gretna, Nebraska offices to our offices and Broadcast Operations Center inside the Candy Factory building in Lincoln's Haymarket District..  We no longer rely on telco connections between Lincoln and Gretna to deliver audio and control signals to the uplink, it is directly connected to our operations center.  As part of this move and upgrade, we have activated our third satellite channel - NET-3.  At the present time we do not anticipate heavy use of the channel...it may primarily be used for raw feeds, etc.  Please have your engineers refer to our updated Tech Info - Satellite Receiver page for wiring information (NET-3 is on PORT-C), and have them wire our NET-3 channel into your systems so it is available if/when you might need it.  We do not have the capability to send contact closures on NET-3, as it will primarily be used for raw feeds and outside programming.

Coaches Radio Shows
The schedule and list of coaches for the weekly coaches radio shows are in our broadcast calendar.  If you hover your mouse over a listing for Sports Nightly, the notes for that show will be displayed and you will see any coach appearance notes.

Press Conferences and Other Network Programming
We will note any special programming details (ie: special announcement press conferences) in the section above where Sports Nightly guest info normally appears.  This is the one location we can easily keep updated.  we will also use our affiliate notification system.  You may also call our Broadcast Operations Center if you have any questions.  Regularly carried events (ie: weekly football press conferences) will be noted in the
broadcast calendar.

Make sure to refer frequently to the Broadcast Calendar.  This includes schedule information and satellite channel assignments.  As schedules change, satellite channel assignments may change, too.  Check the online calendar daily for updates!
